Senior DB2 LUW Database Administrator

practices on DBA operations. A Senior DBA will need to understand the DBMS technology and how to apply to fit the needs of business partners when called upon in the role
of subject matter expert. This includes making recommendations on features and functions including data encryption inflight and at rest, HADR as the Chubb strategic direction is to
become a more secure and highly available Db2LUW database environment.
You will be called upon to support ALL applications - not limited to a specific SBU orapplication. Chubb DBA staff covers full range of environments. We are not
backroom DBAs, nor are we production only or development only DBAs. We are more of logical or Application DBAs but called upon as SMEs for the entire DB2LUW environment.
In this role, you will:
• Support logical and physical database creation as well as database object creation
• Perform Db2LUW version upgrades and patching on the Db engine
• Implement more advance features such as data encryption for data inflight and at rest
• Provide on-call DBA support
• Participate in the strategic projects such as
available environment including granular DR practices.
o Conversion of existing backup processes away from TSM to Rubrik
o Replatform from AIX to Linux for all DB2LUW databases.
Qualification
preferred
• Required skills, knowledge and abilities:
o DB2LUW EE version 11.x features and functions
o TSM backup, restore, archive log operations
o DB2 Client installation, configuration and cataloging
o DB2 Connect support
o DB2 EE installation, instance creation, and patching experience
o DB2 utilities
• Additional skills:
o HADR configuration – a plus
o Rubrik software experience – a plus
o Experience replatforming from AIX to Linux
o Implementing TLSD on Db2LUW – a plus
o Alerting and monitoring tool experience – Science Logic, Solar-winds-DPA – a plus
o Additional DBMS platform experience in Oracle, Informix, DB2 zOS and IMS– a big plus
o DB2 zOS experience – a plus
• Interpersonal skills
• Verbal and written communication skills are key, Various levels of business and technical
contact. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively to all levels. Crisp, concise
delivery of technical information a must - will be part of the interview process.
• Team player – Chubb DBA works as individual DBMS teams and as part of the larger north
America team. We will also be called upon to provide DB2LUW SME recommendations and
assistance for other Chubb global regions as we evolve into a more global/follow-the-sun
organization
