What does a Customer Service Representative do?

Customer Service Representatives (CSR) provide product and service information and support to customers via telephone, e-mail, or chat. They cater to customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints, and maintain customer information database. 

They are usually the first point of contact customers have with a company so they are expected to have excellent communication skills, comprehension, and familiarity with customer relationship software

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

These are some of the core duties and responsibilities of a Customer Service Representative, however, this will depend on the type of business/organization they are working for or the client they are catering

  • Provide support and interact with customers through telephone, email, or chat
  • Take orders, log customer complaints or concerns, explain details about a product or service, provide payment options, process payments, or give order confirmations
  • Process complaints by taking a detailed report and providing a resolution for the concern
  • Explain products or services, possibly provide step-by-step guidance to explain these in detail
